I'm part way through a book based on a newspaper article that I found doing genealogy research.  Even though it is a fiction, it's based on real people, and the skeleton of the story is factual.

It begins in England, 1875.  Boy's mother dies 10 days after giving birth, he ends up in a workhouse before he's five, comes to Canada (Winnipeg area) at thirteen, commits murder at sixteen and is sentenced to hang.  Hung up (no pun intended) on a title.  For lack of a better title, it was simply called “William.”  One title I had been kicking around was “The Black Cap” as that is what the judge wore back then when a prisoner was sentenced to hang.  Also considered "Poorhouse to Prison."  I know - kinda lame.  Latest brainstorm for a title is Murder in Woodlands. Got that from one of the newspaper articles.  I rather like that one.

Only about a quarter to a third of the way through this one.  Not sure how long it will be, but I need to get at the very least 40,000 words, and I’m only around 15,000.  Genre – Historical Fiction.  Is there such a category as Semi-Fiction?  That would really be more accurate as the book has a lot of facts in it.
